I am confused about low carb diets & low fat diets?
Basically, the theory regarding low carb diets is that it is mainly carbohydrates which are responsible for people gaining weight. By controlling the amount and types of carbohydrates that one eats, you can lose weight if you are overweight.
Some "experts" voice their disagreements with this, but in fact it is a very workable way to lose weight.
One of the key reasons that low carb diets work is that people very often eat far too many carbohydrates. The reason for this is that carbohydrates are so plentiful and tasty.
Carbohydrates include rice, potatoes, pasta, vegetables, fruits, bread, cakes, biscuits and many snack foods etc. etc.
There are a number of reasons why carbohydrates make people fat. Firstly, we tend to consume so many of them in our diets and because carbs can cause havoc with blood sugar and insulin levels. This can be caused by the carbs themselves and also by the sweet sugary extras which are very often found added to carbs.
There is a scientific relationship between types of food and its effect on the blood sugar levels. This is called the glycemic index.
Foods with high glycemic indexes tend to cause the blood sugar levels to rise high and this leads to foods being converted to fat more often.
By eating a diet low in carbs you can hopefully reduce this blood sugar effect and so not gain weight and in fact the body is more able to use existing fat stores as energy. Thus leading to weight loss.
The difficulty with low carb diets are that they can be difficult to stick to. You can crave foods and can feel hungry.
This is why we have created the scientifically balanced GoodCarbs™ formula.
Your body needs carbohydrates and we have made the formula to help supply the needed carbohydrates without affecting blood sugar levels in a negative way.
GoodCarbs™ also perfectly complements low calorie, low fat and other controlled
diets. Because the ingredients are so good everyone can benefit from this
product.

Good carbs and bad carbs - which are which?
Why are some carbs good and some bad?
There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding this subject. Well to keep this as simple as possible I will try to keep this as simple as possible. Unfortunately by doing this there may be some minor exceptions to what follows:
Firstly, some carbs are unrefined and some carbs are refined. Examples of unrefined carbs would be whole grain wheat, wholemeal bread, potatoes, wholemeal pasta, brown rice, vegetables and many fruits such as bananas and apples.
Refined carbs would be things which contain various refined ingredients such as white flour and white sugar etc. These would include foods such as white bread, white pasta, cakes, biscuits, white rice, crisps, french fries, pastries, cookies, donuts and most fast foods. Also many drinks contain high levels of sugar or syrup which are not good for you.
Eating too many refined carbs very definitely can lead to weight gain and a sluggish, energy deficient body in the medium term.
So very definitely, refined carbs could be classed as bad carbs.
Next, some unrefined carbs do have a high glycemic index. Foods such as potatoes and wholemeal bread, even though they can be unrefined, can cause high blood sugar levels.
So even natural healthy foods such as these have been classed as bad carbs, because they do not meet the criteria of the modern popular low carb diets.
Basically, low carbs is a bit of a misnomer, such diets should really be call "no bad carb" diets.
Hopefully by reading the various articles on this site you will realise
that you do need to eat some carbohydrates. Just make sure they are good
ones. This is why we have created GoodCarbs™, to ensure everyone can get
the carbs they need to remain health and energetic, whilst being able to
lose weight.
